Competition never stops in every field. Watchmaking dates back to the 16th century. From pendulum clocks to wristwatches, from the simple device to the complicated movement, from inaccuracy to precision, from steel to high-tech materials, competition becomes intenser and intenser. At present, innovation and high-tech materials have been the new themes. Panerai is never absent on high-tech materials. From 2007 to 2015, Panerai gave the watchmaking another surprise over and over.

High-tech Ceramic
Nowadays, it’s common that ceramic applies to the watchmaking. Panerai developed zirconia ceramic in 2007. The high-tech ceramic is five times solider than stainless steel. The material applies to Panerai Luminor 1950 8 days Ceramic GMT Chronograph PAM00317 then. It appeared like a darker knight. Many people were attracted by its exterior look first, then they found its strong functions. Panerai Luminor 1950 watch PAM00317 has day/night display, small seconds, a 30-minute counter, 8-day reserve and the dual time-zone. Panerai adheres to the principle of simple design, so the dial looks tidy although it is a practical tool watch. It is fitted with P.2004/B, the first in-house chronograph movement with manual winding. P.2004/B consists of 321 pieces of components, what’s more, the three barrels in it supplies 8-day power reserve. All black look adds mature and mysterious charm to the model.

Composite Material
Panerai was dissatisfied with the present condition then. In 2010, it succeeded in developing Composite material with aluminium oxide. Composite is completed through anodic treatment, solider but lighter than zirconia ceramic. Its hardness reaches up to 1700° HV. The material applies to Aircraft industry and automobile industry because of light weight, hardness and high temperature resistance. Panerai Luminor Composite 1950 3 Days PAM00375 features Composite case in 47mm, sandwich dial and pencil-shaped gold hands. The dial bears “1950” at 6 O’clock, a different design from others. Because of 2000 pieces of Limited Edition, Panerai Luminor Composite 1950 PAM00375 became more popular then. It’s fitted with P.3000, one of in-house classic movements.

Carbontech
Carbontech™ is a kind of composite material made of carbon fiber and PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) under high temperature. It was developed successfully in 2015, featuring corrosion resistance, light weight and unique grain. Cases made of Carbontech, whose surface presents unique grain. To people’s surprise, every case is different from the others. Wristwatches in Carbontech gave rise to a climax in the market. It’s Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbontech PAM00616. Not only case but bezel is made of Caebonthech. “Caebonthech” under the brand name at 6 O’clock represents technical improvement. The design for pink gold and blue hour markers and decorations shows the elegant side. Carbontech case comes with new rubber band, water resistant 300 meters.
